Kilauea Lighthouse

Perched on a bluff overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean, the Kilauea Lighthouse stands as a silent sentry. When it was built in 1913, it had the largest clamshell lens in existance and was used until the mid ’70s when it was replaced by a bacon.

Na Pali Coast Kauai

One of my favorite activities from our vacation was going up Na Pali Coast in Kauai. The weather in typical Kauai fashion changed constantly. The locals say “if you don’t like the weather now, just wait five minutes.” I liked the different shades of gray in the mountains in this photograph and the green highlights in the inbetween.

Comical Swan

While in Kauai we visited the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa in Poipu and was wondering around the grounds and saw this beautiful swan. As I watched and photographed the swan, these fish started circling the swan and I thought it made for a comical photo.

The other day we took a walk down to the Russian River, along the way is a barn with a couple of horses. The clouds were gorgeous that day and with everything so green after these late spring rains it was a beautiful scene. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Old Mailbox outside of Calistoga

This old mailbox was beside the red barn I stopped and photographed the other day outside of Calistoga. I really enjoy textures but I know not everyone does, so you can take this one or leave it.

I stopped by this red barn just outside of Calistoga, California on Highway 128 on my way back from taking my son Ted back to Pacific Union College. The weather was perfect with occasional showers. I like the wine barrel fountain and the texture of the old barn wood, makes for a nice wine country photograph.
